Iran’s Supreme Leader made his first public statement since the outbreak of hostilities, appearing notably weakened by the crisis. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s televised speech showed clear signs of strain, with the leader speaking with evident difficulty and occasionally stumbling over words.

The 86-year-old leader disputed President Trump’s assertions about completely destroying Iran’s nuclear capabilities, though international inspectors confirmed massive damage. Nuclear agency officials described the destruction as “very, very considerable,” suggesting significant setbacks to Iranian atomic development.

Iran’s attack on American forces in Qatar was highlighted by Khamenei as evidence of his country’s ability to vow retaliation despite nuclear damage. He characterized this action as both successful response and demonstration that Iranian military effectiveness remained intact.

The implementation of the ceasefire has allowed Iran to begin the process of recovery while maintaining its hostile international stance. The country has partially reopened its airspace and begun restoring civilian activities, though it faces enormous challenges in rebuilding its atomic infrastructure.
